Support Civil Rights For the Most Vulnerable

After 11 years as Executive Director and 23 years as Legal Director before that, Alan Mills is stepping down from his leadership role.

During his time as ED, UPLC has grown into a nationally recognized leader in prisoners’ rights, particularly in the fight to end solitary confinement. Alan’s groundbreaking work even helped close Tamms, the notorious supermax prison.

Under Alan’s leadership, UPLC has also become one of Chicago’s leading tenants’ rights organizations. It has stood at the forefront of the fight against gentrification in Uptown, playing a critical role in a larger grassroots effort to keep the neighborhood diverse and livable for thousands of people.

Alan has been a tireless advocate for justice, transforming countless lives through his unwavering dedication to prisoners’ rights. As he transitions to the next chapter of his journey, you have the opportunity to honor his legacy by contributing to the Alan Mills Action Fund.

This fund will:

  • Protect the rights of people in prison, tenants, and individuals with disabilities.
  • Create much-needed change in the Illinois prison system and the Uptown community.
  • Continue UPLC’s vital legal aid work.

Your gift to the Alan Mills Action Fund ensures that his life’s work will continue to help those who need it most. Together, we can keep fighting for justice and dignity for all.

Make your gift now to honor Alan’s legacy and be part of the fight for justice.
