Women in Illinois prisons are still facing sexual abuse and, too often, no one is held accountable. Sara* was sent to prison at 27 and placed in a wing for people with serious mental illness, where a correctional officer sexually abused her and threatened her if she spoke out. Despite the threats, Sara bravely came forward to file a case against him and the IDOC staff who allowed the abuse to happen.
Every week, more people come forward with heartbreaking stories that mirror what Sara lived through. The need for strong legal protection has never been more urgent.
Your gift today helps us:
  • defend survivors who risk everything to speak up
  • challenge the systems that allow abuse to continue
  • protect people with serious mental illness inside
  • push for long-term change in Illinois prisons
Your support is part of their safety.
Please stand with the people who need protection right now.
